Purpose: To investigate whether physical exercise can improve the response to radiotherapy and enhance the effectiveness of treatment in people with prostate cancer.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Patients diagnosed with localised or locally advanced prostate cancer;
- Scheduled for external beam radiotherapy; and
- Approval from treating oncologist to participate in the study.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Previous radical prostatectomy;
- Regular exercise (defined as undertaking structured aerobic or resistance exercise on 2 or more days per week within the past 3 months);
- Acute illness or any musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, or neurological disorder that could put patients at risk during exercise testing or training;
- Bone metastases; or
- Any contraindication to magnetic resonance imaging.
