ERADICATE Study

Purpose: To investigate whether physical exercise can improve the response to radiotherapy and enhance the effectiveness of treatment in people with prostate cancer.

Inclusion Criteria:

  1. Patients diagnosed with localised or locally advanced prostate cancer;
  2. Scheduled for external beam radiotherapy; and
  3. Approval from treating oncologist to participate in the study.

Exclusion Criteria:

  1. Previous radical prostatectomy;
  2. Regular exercise (defined as undertaking structured aerobic or resistance exercise on 2 or more days per week within the past 3 months);
  3. Acute illness or any musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, or neurological disorder that could put patients at risk during exercise testing or training;
  4. Bone metastases; or
  5. Any contraindication to magnetic resonance imaging.
